Today we're looking at the relationship between Ejari and DEWA, why the two systems are connected, and what happens when that connection breaks.

DEWA provides electricity and water services across Dubai. When a tenant moves into a property, they must open a DEWA account in their name. To do that, DEWA requires proof that the tenant legally occupies the property. That proof is the Ejari certificate.

This is why Ejari and DEWA are closely linked. While a tenancy contract is a private agreement between landlord and tenant, an Ejari certificate is an officially registered tenancy record that DEWA can verify through government systems.
