Workshop Re-Release: The Works Cited Page: Because "I Googled It" Isn't a Source
For our first re-released workshop, this was a workshop on MLA formatting and Works Cited pages led by Mariah Burkert Mariah explained the importance of using Works Cited pages for academic integrity, standardizing formats, and lending credibility to writing, then demonstrated how to set up MLA formatted papers and create entries for different source types including scholarly journal articles, websites, books, and YouTube videos. She covered specific formatting rules such as using hanging indents, proper author name ordering, and the difference between italicized and quoted titles. Mariah emphasized that while citation generators can be helpful, students should learn the basic formats to ensure accuracy and speed up the process.
