ARTIST STATEMENTI am interested in capturing a sense of shifting time and space in my work. I want it to not quite inhabit the known world but be more like a dreaming space where meaningful and whimsical fragments of the day happen to have washed up. In this space, elements melt into one another - feelings into ice-cream, sea markers into volcanoes, London Underground tiles into lochs, colourful plastic wrappers, and road signs into a mill-pond-like sea.I keep returning to waves in my work. Not just sea waves but waves as a metaphor for building tension. I see these building tensions everywhere, in the state of the world, in people around me, in my own head, and in the mundanity of day-to-day life.
