The King Wants To Know About Antisemitism and Social Cohesion
Hi everybody! We're back with another thrilling week of Australian Jurisprudence or whatever. We're looking at the Social Cohesion Antisemitism Royal Commission, and I had a read through all of the presented evidence and I have something to report! We try our best to get to the meat of what's presented, what peak Zionist bodies such as the Zionist Federation of Australia and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry would want us to know about the Jewish Australian Community. Unfortunately, much of the testimony is very silly and petulant and so we must spend some time having a bit of a chuckle. But first; Archie updates, and we reminisce on some children's books. Hello everybody! Wonderful to have you with us again! We are working on our big look into the Antisemitism Royal Commission and wanted to do a little companion piece looking at Royal Commissions of the old and slightly less old days. We wanted to figure out their general purpose and effectiveness, but mainly ended up pointing and going "huh???" at some weird people from the 1930s. Scandals, infidelity, indiscretion and contradictions: June News Roundup
Hey folks! This week we're popping around the news to cool off a little bit, see what's going on, catch up on our stories, all the good stuff. We start with the story of a Queensland man with a "High public profile" who's named as a party in some legal proceedings. We follow up by talking about the extremely high profile Julie Bishop and the impact she had on the Australian National University, where she was (until recently) chancellor. For a change of pace, we look at a kooky doctor who published a book of all of his patients, and finish off with a One Nation MP with a Gay Muslim Boyfriend. Hi folks! Wonderful news—we live among geniuses! Yes, though we are pretty hard on the Australian intellect at times, there have been the odd resonant brainwaves on this parched continent. We talk about a super cool spear thrower, some political bullshit, a food, a vehicle, a drink and some surprising instrument lore! Hi folks! We have reached the end of Jacqui Lambie month here at Shouldn'ta Come, where we cover her time in political wilderness, her reality show moments, and the second iteration of the Lambster as a politician. Hi folks! We continue the Month of Lambie with part 3, where we get properly acquainted with the Jacqui Lambie years that everybody remembers; Clive Palmer, the Sharia Law arguments, her son with an ice addiction, and the big stunts. Hi folks! We're back with Jac part 2, the second part of our...trilogy...saga...about Jacqui Lambie of Tasmania. We talk about Jacqui's time working her way up through the army, the types of boys she's had to deal with over her life, and the process of wresting any decency from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Hi folks! The Good Ship Shouldn’ta makes her first stop on the North Western Coast of Tasmania, or as they call it in Devonport, The Coast. We are here to meet one of the more enigmatic and entertaining yet ignorantly racist politicians that this country has ever produced: Jacqui Lambie. This will be a three part series, and we spend this week getting to know her family history and her upbringing, as well as the kooky politics that causes the Tasmanian senate to throw up these oddballs from time to time. Hey Folks! Rawr! That is how a Dinosaur would say "welcome back to Shouldn'ta Come"! This week, Ciaran takes us to paleontological height this podcast couldn't have dreamed of reaching. We look at the relatively few confirmed cases of Dinosaurs Down Under, including an extended look at Gondwanaland. It's a great time if you're into Dinosaurs, especially ones with slightly disappointing names. April News Round Up: The Birdman & Homelessness, Dying Turtles & Writhing Budgets
Hey Folks! It's the end of April, where things are getting wet and wild! (It's raining again). It's been raining bleak times lately, and I appreciate the chance to get them out of my head, have a laugh about them, and hopefully help people stay on top of some of the big and small stories that happened in the last few weeks. We speak about Bikram Lama, Sydney's "Birdman", whose body lay at a train station for days until he was found. We go on into a wider look at homelessness, and how there isn't a serious solution on the table if it doesn't involve stopping people from owning second homes. Going south, and drying up, we look at the ecological catastrophe unfolding at the Gwydir Wetlands, near Moree, in the Murray-Darling Basin. A local property owner gets water shut off for a bunch of turtles, who are either dying or being relocated. Finally, we have a look at where money isn't going to go (The National Disability Insurance Scheme, or NDIS) and where money will be going (the military).
