Simeon was an ordinary, righteous man living in Jerusalem who was waiting for the consolation of Israel. He was not waiting for circumstances to improve, but for God to fulfill what He had promised. Simeon had no title, no timeline, and no control over the outcome, yet he remained faithful. When the Holy Spirit led him to the temple and he finally held Jesus, Simeon declared that he could depart in peace, because God had delivered on His word.
