Note sull'episodio

In this episode of PRESENTE, we dive into the work of the Justice Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD), LA County’s newest agency leading the charge in reimagining justice. JCOD is at the heart of the County’s efforts to support justice-involved individuals and communities, putting care and rehabilitation first. Tune in as we explore how this department is driving forward the Board of Supervisors’ vision of a Care First approach and what it means for the future of public safety and community well-being.

In this brief interview with the Director, Judge Armstead (Ret.), we look at what the department is, whats been accomplished and how easy it is for our communities impacted by incarceration to get help.

PRESENTE with Francisco Aviles Pino is an interview and narrative podcast showcasing California Latino stories with universal significance. Think of KQED’s The California Report and The Assignment with Audie Cornish but for CALÓ News. Each episode takes on an important ballot initiative, a major local elected seat, and all the major issues facing Latinos in California with a focus on Southern California -- representation in media, criminal justice, housing , immigration, the economy, climate justice and much more. The show breaks down these topics into 30-minute episodes that are released occasionally on Tuesdays and promoted throughout the week.
