Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an acquired autoimmune disease characterized by a low platelet count, purpura, and hemorrhagic episodes caused by antiplatelet autoantibodies. Diagnosis is typically made by excluding the known causes of thrombocytopenia. Recent advancements in pediatric ITP treatment show promise for personalized medicine and better outcomes. This podcast will provide expert interpretation of new and emerging data on the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric ITP presented at the EHA 2024 Hybrid Congress, June 13-16, Madrid, Spain.
