Philippe François Nazaire Fabre d’Églantine was a multi-talented French actor, playwright, and poet who became a significant political figure during the French Revolution. He is famously credited with naming the months of the French Republican calendar and composing the enduring nursery rhyme "Il pleut, il pleut, bergère." Despite his artistic contributions and his role as a Jacobin deputy in the National Convention, his career was cut short by allegations of financial corruption involving the French East India Company.
