In 1 Kings Chapter 3 Solomon marries Pharaoh’s daughter, which was probably not a loving marriage, but a political one. This was about ensuring peace and an effective economy. The Pharaoh was probably Psusennes II - and Pharaoh’s daughter’s name is unknown. Solomon goes up to offer sacrifices at Gibeon, a high place. At this point God seems to overlook the use of the high places, because of no temple, and because it was towards him.

Solomon himself sacrifices at Gibeon in verse 4. After this Solomon has a dream where God tells him he can have anything he asks for, and he asks for wisdom. The he gets wealth and fame thrown in.
