In Jeremiah 29 we find a letter which contains prohpecy to the exiles already in Babylon - which included Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Jeremiah encourages them to settle down and make the most of life as the captivity will last a longer time than they think. He also gives the promise that God has plans for them to do them good. This promise is often taken by believers today for ourselves, but is important to understand in context.
