Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the New York Weather Podcast. It's Sunday, February 22nd. And folks, I'm not going to sugarcoat this. A historic blizzard is bearing down on us right now.
That light dusting from this morning? Forget it. A monster nor'easter is exploding off the Carolina coast as we speak. By tonight, you're looking at whiteout conditions across most of the state. We're talking snowfall measured in feet. Not inches. Feet.
Snow turns heavy by mid afternoon in the city. By 3 PM, it's all thick, wet snow with highs near 38 degrees that nosedive fast. Then tonight gets truly dangerous. Blizzard warnings are up for nearly the entire state. Snowfall rates hit 2 to 3 inches per hour. Gusts along the coast scream to 55 miles an hour. The city and Long Island? 14 to 20 inches total.
