Folks, eastern New Mexico is about to get slammed by some serious wind today. Let me paint the picture.
A Pacific cold front is racing statewide right now. Temperatures drop about 24 degrees from yesterday, but that's not the headline. The headline is wind — southwest gusts hitting 50 to 55 miles an hour across the eastern plains and highlands by late morning. That's the kind of wind that'll rearrange your patio furniture and send your trash cans on a cross-county road trip.
Here's the serious part. Humidity's dropping to single digits, which means any spark becomes a wildfire in seconds. Red Flag Warnings are up from 10 A.M. To 6 P.M. For the northeast and east central areas. No outdoor burning today. Not even a little one.
