Dee Rock was raised on the West Coast by parents who enjoyed good music and had deep roots in Texas. His dad especially enjoyed good music and introduced Dee to a variety of music genres including Motown, Country, Blues, and Jazz. As a result of those influences and those deep Texas roots, Dee has a unique style that he has come to define as,  “my Mojo Gumbo style”.
Dee’s very first concert, The Jackson Five with Buddy Miles opening, had a profound impact on Dee, and it was while listening to Buddy Miles, who had played with music legends like Jimi Hendrix and The Band of Gypsies, that he decided he had to become a musician.
