Mark reminds us that the Bible’s answer to the darkness of the world has always been Jesus, the light of the world. Because of this truth, Jesus speaks some frightening words in this chapter. But he also speaks of his Father, and promises that if we abide in his word—the word of truth—we will have freedom from death and judgement.
