Good morning. Mississippi. I'm Michael Nally.
You woke up to an inch of rain and 65 degrees. The wet stuff's not done yet. Thunderstorms are rolling through this morning before tapering off by afternoon.
Down along the Gulf Coast, patchy fog and thunderstorms linger through early afternoon. High of 74 degrees. Central Mississippi sees those storms wrapping up by early afternoon, topping out at 75. Up north, scattered rain showers clear out by midday, with highs reaching 73.
Tonight stays mild and mostly cloudy. Lows settle in the low to mid-60s statewide — warmer than you'd expect for early March.
Monday brings a warmup. Highs climb to the upper 70s to low 80s. But here's the catch. Afternoon thunderstorms develop, especially north of Interstate 20. A few could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds. The threat fades after sunset.
