(Mixtape) Never Sent is a short, lo-fi indie song inspired by “Mix-tape Never Sent,” an episode of Love Letters to Forgotten Things.

It’s about the strange intimacy of making something for someone who may never know it existed.

For a certain generation, a mixtape could be part confession, part puzzle, part emotional survival kit. You chose every song for a reason. You worried about the order. You timed the sides. You tried to say things through other people’s music because saying them yourself felt impossible.

This one was made for a girl.

It was labeled carefully, filled with songs that meant something, and even included a tiny spoken message recorded into a cheap plastic microphone.

And then it stayed in a drawer.
