The redemptive work of Christ Jesus has at it's center the cross. The cross to the Christian, symbolizes both the surrender that leads to salvation and the resurrection that gives victory over sin and death. One can look at it this way; the vertical bar represents humanities relation with God in heaven and the horizontal piece representing, relations with each other. Like Jesus said, "the greatest commandment is to LOVE the Lord your God and obey His commands. The second is as the first, and that is to LOVE your Neighbour as once self."

However, the cross has also become the central point of many arguments, revolutions, social unrest, political contentions and many others.
