Note sull'episodio

Meladee Carter's journey as a Black international student at Oakwood University, an HBCU, defies expectations. Born and raised in Barbados, she chose Oakwood with a sense of destiny, only to confront a culture of race in America that viewed her differently than she anticipated.

"I've been Black my whole life... but now I was seen as insignificant, someone not worthy of being heard. It was heartbreaking and honestly traumatic. Discussing it with Americans, I felt left behind," Meladee reflects.

Meladee’s perspective on race in and around an HBCU offers profound insights, transcending racial boundaries to enlighten all who listen. Meladee's narrative extends beyond race, urging for broader diversity appreciation and stronger advocacy efforts.
