Teaching Psalms: I Was Envious
The Psalms are full of honesty and give a direct window into our hearts. What are we to make of all life outside of the faith? How are we to face our own inner desires? What will reset our hearts? Our scripture today is found in Psalm 73.
Teaching Psalms: Blessings of Confession
After we discover how good God is, we need to take an honest look at ourselves. What can we expect when truly facing our own brokenness? How will God handle us? Our scripture today can be found in Psalm 32.
For He is Good
Psalm 107 opens Book 5 of the Psalms with a reminder that our God loves us so much that He seeks to restore us, even as we run from Him. As we begin our short series on the Psalms, it is good to begin with this opening truth of God's steadfast love for us. Our scripture today can be found in Psalm 107.
Let This be Known
On Pentecost we celebrate the giving of the Holy Spirit to the church. What does this event have to do with us? Why does Peter reference the prophet Joel? Our scripture today can be found in Acts 2: 1-21.
Amen
The Apostle calls us to be attentive to the ministry that is given each of us. Truly we are to care and watch over one another as we walk this path of life in the world. We are given some direction in how to approach the challenges and trails that come our way. Our scripture today can be found in 1 Peter 5: 6-11
Given Assurance
Often times in life, we need a focal point to get through. For Christians, the Resurrection becomes a focal point providing us both proof and assurance of God's love, as well as stirring us toward repentance--turning away from depending on other things for our happiness. Our scripture today can be found in Acts 17: 22-31
Living Stones
God has not only saved us through His Son, Jesus, but also worked in such a way to make us participants in helping others to come and know Jesus and be saved. Our scripture today can be found in 1 Peter 2: 1-12
The Good Shepherd
Jesus often used familiar imagery to help people understand who He was and what He is about. Today, we are reminded of Christ's work in our lives and the call for us to listen for his voice. Our scripture today can be found in Psalm 23 and John 10:1-10
Standing Still
This Sunday we journey with two of Jesus' followers and find how God's Word will warm our hearts and keep us from standing still, locked in a limited perspective that robs us of the life that God has for us. Our Scripture today can be found in Luke 24: 13-35
Believe
The week after Easter, we explore the Gospel writer John’s great desire and purpose for writing – that we might come to believe and not doubt. He takes us through the disciple Thomas’ struggle to believe and calls us to take up the challenge to believe. Our scripture today can be found in John 20: 19-31
