Choose This Day | Joshua 24

This week Ben Harris shares a devotion from Joshua 24.

He uses a personal story about his family’s swimming pool. After carefully preparing it and teaching his daughters how to maintain the chemicals, the pool quickly turned green when daily care stopped. The lesson is clear: pools require continual upkeep. They are not a “one-and-done” responsibility.

Joshua gives a similar challenge to the people of Israel at the end of his life in Joshua 24:14–15:

“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness… But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
