It calls us to humility, patience, gentleness, forgiveness, and love precisely because relationships between sinners get messy.

Ephesians 4 tells believers to walk with humility and patience, bearing with one another in love and maintaining the unity of the Spirit. Later, Paul tells Christians to put away bitterness, anger, and malice and instead become kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving.
