The Fruit of the Spirit is not a measurement of our abilities. It is a measurement of God’s power and love working within us. When we start asking God for the things we want like: Strength, Trust, Roots, Understanding and Fullness, we are really asking God to plant seeds in us that will grow up to become the Fruit of the Spirit. However, those seeds must be tended. If we don’t take care of them, they may whither and die. They cannot be tended by us. They can only be grown by God.
