1 Kings 10-11 show Solomon at the height of his fame and at the beginning of his spiritual collapse. In 1 Kings 10, the Queen of Sheba witnesses Solomon’s wisdom, wealth, organization, and greatness. In 1 Kings 11, Solomon’s many foreign wives turn his heart toward other gods, bringing judgment upon his kingdom.

The simple truth is this:

Success is a blessing only when the heart remains faithful to God. A person can possess wisdom, wealth, influence, and religious achievement while privately allowing desires to pull the heart away from the Lord.
