"I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 19, 1958. In 1966, my father left the Police force to become a missionary pilot. Our family moved to Chicago, Illinois in what began as a whirlwind tour across the country and through four Latin American countries. Throughout my twelve years of school, I attended thirteen of them in seven different states and three different countries.In 1980 I joined the U.S. Army and in 1981, I married Trena Bass after meeting her in Ecuador. Two kids later, as a family of four, we traveled across America and Europe as a military family. My career spanned seven years as an enlisted soldier, two years completing ROTC, and fifteen years as an officer, retiring as a Major in 2005.
