Packers, Politics, Repentance & Old-School TV: Unfiltered Real Talk
Esplicito
It’s another Cold World conversation, and this one goes ALL over the place. 😂 DVJ and Michelle kick things off with the Packers, Jordan Love, the frustrating loss, football season and even some DraftKings talk. But from there, the conversation takes a turn into politics, the minimum wage, AOC, Democrats and Republicans, economic inequality, community investment and the question of who really has the power to change the laws affecting everyday people. There’s also a more personal moment involving accountability, faith and repentance after some words were said in anger. Sometimes you have to recognize when you were wrong, own it and keep moving. Then we jump into one of our favorite kinds of conversations—OLD-SCHOOL TV AND MOVIE NOSTALGIA! 📺🎬 From Back to the Future and Gremlins sharing the same Universal backlot, to Cheers, Knight Rider, The Twilight Zone, The Incredible Hulk, Growing Pains, The Golden Girls, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and more, we start going down one nostalgic rabbit hole after another. And naturally, there’s music mixed throughout—including Styles P, Talib Kweli, Planet Asia and D’Angelo. 🎶 This is Cold World the way we like it: sports, politics, culture, faith, music, memories and random conversations you didn't know you needed until you heard them. No script. No filter. Just real talk. Pull up, grab your coffee and kick it with us. 🥶☕ #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #DVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #RealTalk #Unfiltered #NoFilter #RealConversations #Packers #GreenBayPackers #JordanLove #NFL #Football #DraftKings #Politics #AOC #AlexandriaOcasioCortez #MinimumWage #EconomicJustice #Community #Faith #Repentance #Accountability #Music #HipHop #StylesP #TalibKweli #Dangelo #OldSchool #OldSchoolTV #80sTV #90sTV #BackToTheFuture #Gremlins #Cheers #KnightRider #TwilightZone #GrowingPains #GoldenGirls #LoveBoat #FantasyIsland #Nostalgia #PopCulture #MilwaukeeRealTalk #ColdWorldRealTalk
Football, Milwaukee Memories, Pets & Unfiltered Real Talk
Esplicito
It’s another morning in the Cold World, and this episode is exactly what you’d expect when DVJ and Michelle sit down and just start talking. 😂 From getting ready for NFL Week 1 and talking Packers, Brewers, baseball and fantasy lineups, to debating whether dogs belong in grocery stores, this conversation goes absolutely everywhere. DVJ shares a personal story about meeting Bill Cosby while working at a hotel, while the conversation jumps into old-school Milwaukee memories—neighborhood spots, libraries, bowling alleys, restaurants, Nana’s Pizza and the places that shaped their childhoods. They also get into the way language and slang have changed, including the words people use to address each other and how something meant casually can still be heard as disrespectful. And of course, there’s plenty of sports talk—from the Brewers and the economics of professional sports to football predictions and fantasy/DraftKings lineups. No script. No polished talking points. Just two people talking about life, memories, sports, Milwaukee, culture, pets, music, old-school television and whatever else happens to come up. That’s Cold World. 🥶 #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #DVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #RealTalk #Unfiltered #UnfilteredConversations #RealConversations #NoFilter #NFL #NFLWeek1 #Football #GreenBayPackers #Packers #MilwaukeeBrewers #Brewers #Baseball #SportsTalk #FantasyFootball #DraftKings #MilwaukeeMemories #MilwaukeeHistory #OldSchoolMilwaukee #Nostalgia #Pets #Dogs #Cats #PopCulture #Music #Wrestling #OldSchool #Culture #LifeTalk #ColdWorldRealTalk
Race, Respect, Self-Worth & Real Life: No Filter Conversations
Esplicito
It’s Friday on Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle, and we’re keeping it real—from politics and race to self-worth, personal growth, sports, life, and some seriously disturbing stories. We start with a conversation about respect, race, and workplace inequality, including the experiences of Latino workers and the kinds of jobs and opportunities people are offered. The discussion digs into how assumptions, stereotypes, and a lack of respect can affect people in everyday life. Then we get into a powerful conversation about self-worth and personal growth, inspired by Styles P. What does it mean to understand your value? How do you become a better version of yourself without beating yourself up along the way? The message is simple: growth is a process, struggle is part of it, and you are valuable. We also react to a disturbing police/bodycam incident involving a school counselor and a 15-year-old girl, discussing the circumstances, the investigation, and the behavior captured in the footage. With September 11 approaching, we take a moment to remember the people who lost their lives on 9/11 and talk about the long-lasting ripple effects of tragedy on families, communities, and survivors. And, of course, there’s plenty of NFL talk, including the start of football season, Week 1 excitement, injuries, Brett Favre, and the controversy surrounding the misuse of Mississippi welfare funds. We also talk about something that gets overlooked way too often: life itself. Life is unpredictable, we aren't promised tomorrow, and sometimes we need to slow down and appreciate the time we actually have. As always, this is Cold World—two people talking about the world from their own perspectives, experiences, and observations. We don't shy away from race, politics, relationships, culture, music, sports, or uncomfortable conversations. Pull up a chair, grab your coffee, and come kick it with us. #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #DVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #RealTalk #Unfiltered #RealConversations #Race #Racism #WorkplaceInequality #Respect #SelfWorth #PersonalGrowth #Motivation #LifeLessons #Mentality #9_11 #September11 #NeverForget #PoliceBodycam #TrueCrime #Crime #NFL #NFLFootball #FootballSeason #NFLWeek1 #BrettFavre #MississippiWelfare #SportsTalk #Politics #SocialCommentary #Culture #HipHop #Music #Community #Empathy #LifeIsPrecious #ColdWorldRealTalk
AOC, Race, Prison Reform & Brett Favre: Unfiltered Cold World Real Talk
Esplicito
It’s another unfiltered conversation on Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle, coming to you from Milwaukee. This episode gets into AOC, minimum wage, voting rights, civil rights and political power, including a discussion about why voting matters and what happens when communities actually use their political voice. DVJ also takes us back to his experiences growing up in Milwaukee and attending school in the city before going to Nicolet, talking about race, class, differences in opportunity, and the culture shock of seeing a very different side of life. The conversation then turns to 9/11, with DVJ sharing where he was when the attacks happened and reflecting on a childhood trip to New York and seeing the World Trade Center years before the tragedy. We also get into crime, incarceration and prison reform—including the question of whether every offense should result in years behind bars, the realities of overcrowded prisons, and the difference between holding people accountable and simply locking people away. And of course, it wouldn't be Cold World without some NFL talk. The guys discuss the start of football season, the Packers, injuries, and then go off on the controversy surrounding former Packers quarterback Brett Favre and the Mississippi welfare scandal. It’s politics, race, personal history, sports, memories, and plenty of real talk—no polished talking points, just conversation. #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #DVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #RealTalk #Unfiltered #UnfilteredConversation #Podcast #PoliticalCommentary #Politics #AOC #AlexandriaOcasioCortez #VotingRights #CivilRights #MinimumWage #Race #Racism #Class #SocialCommentary #PrisonReform #CriminalJustice #Incarceration #WisconsinPolitics #NFL #NFLFootball #GreenBayPackers #Packers #BrettFavre #9_11 #September11 #911 #HipHop #Milwaukee #RealConversations
$45K Gifts, NFL Talk & Knowing Your Worth: Unfiltered Real Talk
Esplicito
This episode of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle goes from political controversy to football, music, money, and some surprisingly deep conversations about life. We kick things off talking about reports surrounding $45,000 cash holiday gifts to presidential aides, questions about ethics and government rules, and whether people in positions of power should be held to a different standard. The conversation quickly turns into a broader discussion about money, privilege, accountability, and what it means when some people are struggling while others are handing out tens of thousands of dollars. Then it's time for NFL season! We get into fantasy football, the Packers, player injuries, lineups, predictions, and why sometimes you just have to trust your own instincts instead of letting television analysts change your mind. We also spend time with a powerful conversation featuring Styles P, talking about survival, making difficult choices, stepping away from what no longer serves you, and understanding your own value. One of the biggest takeaways is simple: you are the treasure—your life, your family, your children, your loved ones, and the people who matter most. And, of course, we let the music play and keep the conversation moving. Politics. Money. Football. Hip-hop. Family. Life. Two voices. No script. No filter. Just Cold World. Murder, Parole & a DUI Stop: When the Footage Tells the Story
Esplicito
This episode of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle takes us into some seriously disturbing territory. We start with a Louisiana parole hearing, where a parolee who had previously been given an opportunity for substance-abuse treatment is brought back before the board after new violations. The panel ultimately revokes his parole, sparking a conversation about second chances, consequences, addiction, and the choices that can change the course of your life. Then it's Crime Time—a disturbing murder investigation involving a man found with multiple stab wounds while investigators also deal with a house fire. Police question a woman who appears to have information about the victim, and the investigation becomes even more intense when detectives confront her with surveillance footage and evidence connecting her to the scene. The case takes an even darker turn as investigators question her about the victim, an alleged poisoning, their relationship, domestic violence, and the circumstances surrounding his death. She ultimately maintains that she never poisoned him, while the case presented in the episode ends with a murder conviction and a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 30 years. And then we switch gears to a DUI/bodycam encounter involving a father traveling with his children. Officers question him about drinking, his driving, and whether he is impaired before asking him to perform field-sobriety exercises. The encounter also leads into a much bigger conversation about law enforcement, immigration, race, identity, and the treatment of people on opposite sides of the badge. As always, we're breaking down what we're watching, questioning what we're seeing, and having the conversations that don't always fit neatly into a box. Real cases. Real footage. Real opinions. No filter. DUI, Immigration, Race & Wisconsin Politics: No Filter Real Talk
Esplicito
Another episode of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle and, as always, we're not holding back. We start with intense police footage involving a man accused of driving impaired with his children in the vehicle. The situation gets heated as officers question him about how much he has been drinking, conduct field sobriety testing, and ultimately take him into custody. The conversation goes beyond the traffic stop and into the dangers of impaired driving, personal responsibility, and the consequences that can affect an entire family. Things get even more serious when we discuss the interaction between law enforcement, race, immigration, and identity. We break down what happens when an officer repeatedly questions a man's background and where he is "from," and we talk about the racial dynamics we see playing out during the stop. We also dive into a prison case involving a teenager convicted in a crime spree that resulted in a sheriff's deputy being killed and another person being wounded. That leads us into a much bigger conversation about crime, incarceration, parole, and how those stories can become political ammunition. And then we turn our attention to Wisconsin politics and the upcoming governor's race. We talk about political advertising, crime messaging, parole, Governor Tony Evers, David Crowley, and the importance of paying attention to what political campaigns are actually telling voters. Of course, there's plenty of everyday Cold World mixed in—food, music, Chewie, laundry, random conversations, and everything else that happens when two people are just sitting around talking about what's going on in the world. No script. No corporate talking points. No pretending we agree on everything. Just DVJ and Michelle having the conversations—serious, funny, uncomfortable, political, and completely unfiltered. Waukesha Protests, Milwaukee Sports & Unfiltered Real Talk
Esplicito
It's another day of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle, and this one is all over the place—in the best possible way. We're out and about in Milwaukee, talking sports, shopping, food, family, the city, and whatever else catches our attention along the way. We talk about the Milwaukee Bucks, the upcoming football season, the Brewers, Chicago sports fans, and what Milwaukee sports might look like going forward. But the conversation gets more serious when we talk about racism and a group of protesters in Waukesha. We make an important distinction: criticizing racist behavior doesn't mean labeling an entire community or every person who lives there. We talk about stereotypes, racism, representation, and why people shouldn't be judged simply because of where they live or what they look like. And then, because this is Cold World, we're right back to everyday life—running errands, El Rey, Trader Joe's, food, sanitizer, childhood meals, new construction around Milwaukee, and all the little observations that turn an ordinary day into a conversation. We also get plenty of laughs, random conversations, Milwaukee stories, and those completely unfiltered moments that make this show what it is. No script. No pretending. No perfect answers. Just DVJ and Michelle talking about what's happening around them—and saying what they really think. Listen, share the episode, and let us know where you stand. #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #DVJAndMichelle #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #Waukesha #RealTalk #Unfiltered #Podcast #NewsCommentary #SocialCommentary #Racism #RacismAwareness #Community #Culture #BlackVoices #MilwaukeeBucks #Bucks #MilwaukeeBrewers #Brewers #NFL #FootballSeason #SportsTalk #EverydayLife #MilwaukeeLife #WisconsinLife #RealConversations
Pullman Porters, Black Labor History & The Dangers of DUI
Esplicito
This episode of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle takes us on a trip through history—and then brings the conversation right back to the real world. We dive deep into the history of the Pullman Porters, the Black men who worked aboard Pullman sleeping cars and became a major part of the story of Black labor, economic advancement, and the development of a Black middle class. We talk about the harsh working conditions, low wages, racial discrimination, segregated railroad jobs, and the degrading practice of refusing to recognize Black porters by their own names. We also explore the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, A. Philip Randolph, the fight for union recognition, and how that struggle became connected to the broader labor and civil rights movements. The episode looks at how workers organized despite intimidation and the risk of losing the jobs they depended on. And because this is Cold World, we don't stay in the history books all day. We take a look at real DUI traffic stops, including a mother pulled over with her daughter in the vehicle, and talk about the dangers of drinking or using drugs and getting behind the wheel. The bigger point isn't entertainment—it's accountability and hopefully making somebody think twice before making a decision that could change multiple lives forever. There's also plenty of everyday life mixed in—laundry, coffee, Chewie, apartment life, music, movies, and those random conversations that somehow turn into something much bigger. This episode is history, race, work, addiction, responsibility, and everyday life—all in one conversation. No script. No polished talking points. Just real conversation, real opinions, and a willingness to talk about things that matter. Listen, share, and tell us what you think. #ColdWorld #ColdWorldPodcast #DVJAndMichelle #ColdWorldWithDVJAndMichelle #MilwaukeePodcast #WisconsinPodcast #Milwaukee #Wisconsin #RealTalk #Unfiltered #Podcast #NewsCommentary #SocialCommentary #BlackHistory #AfricanAmericanHistory #BlackHistoryMatters #PullmanPorters #PullmanPorter #BrotherhoodOfSleepingCarPorters #APhilipRandolph #BlackLaborHistory #LaborHistory #CivilRights #BlackMiddleClass #Racism #RacialJustice #AmericanHistory #DUI #DrunkDriving #ImpairedDriving #DrivingUnderTheInfluence #Accountability #RealConversations #MilwaukeeLife
Accusations, Addiction, Racism & Real Talk
Esplicito
This episode of Cold World w/ DVJ & Michelle goes everywhere—and that's exactly how we like it. We start with a tense police interview involving a teacher accused of inappropriate contact with a student. We hear the allegations, the teacher's response, the questions from investigators, and his willingness to take a polygraph as he tries to defend himself. From there, the conversation takes plenty of turns. We get into addiction, bad decisions, personal responsibility, and why having your own mistakes and struggles can change the way you look at other people's lives. DVJ gets candid about his own past and explains why he doesn't believe in automatically judging someone based on what substance they're struggling with. And of course, there's plenty of everyday Cold World—Milwaukee, grocery shopping, Walmart, breakfast burritos, slippers, pets, relationships, football, music, and the random conversations that somehow turn into much bigger discussions. We also get into race, racism, representation, and some powerful Paul Mooney material. Watching an old movie through adult eyes leads to a conversation about the racist imagery and attitudes that can be easy to overlook when you're younger. Then there's the usual unfiltered commentary—relationships, cheating, music, Nina Simone, Christmas representation, and whatever else comes up along the way. No script. No polished talking points. Just DVJ and Michelle having real conversations about real life.
