The Chargers are getting closer to finalizing their 53-man roster, but before the cuts, waiver claims and roster moves start coming in, I’ve got a few things on my wish list.

First, the backup quarterback situation. I would much rather see the Chargers bring in an experienced veteran like Andy Dalton to back up Justin Herbert than go into the season relying on DJ Uiagalelei or Trey Lance. If Herbert has to miss a couple of games, I want somebody behind him who has been there before and knows how to manage an NFL offense.

Then we get into the linebacker room. I would love to see Marlowe Wax make this football team, and I think Del’Shawn Phillips has earned an opportunity to get some starting reps. But what happens with Troy Dye and Junior Colson? Has Colson shown enough to earn a  ...
