Chapters 9–12: Lucy’s mysterious illness worsens, Van Helsing is called in, repeated blood transfusions fail to save her, and the struggle against Dracula becomes more urgent and tragic.

In Chapters 9–12 of Dracula, Lucy’s condition becomes increasingly alarming. Dr. Seward cannot explain her weakness, blood loss, strange marks, and nighttime decline, so he asks his former teacher Professor Van Helsing for help. Van Helsing recognizes that something beyond ordinary medicine is at work, but he does not immediately explain everything to the others. He orders garlic flowers, watches Lucy carefully, and begins combining modern medical methods with old protective practices.
