Miami is a private university, so everybody assumes you can't see what its athletic department actually makes. That's not necessarily true and the federal filing tells a story nobody in the Canes media space has told yet. Miami men's basketball generated $17,865,162 in revenue and turned a $3.5 million profit during the season the Hurricanes went 7-24 and Jim Larrañaga resigned in the middle of the year. That's the floor. That's what this program is worth when it's actively bad. Since then: Jai Lucas got a five-year extension after ONE season. Miami has signed a top-25 national recruit in three straight classes for the first time in program history. The transfer portal class went from 19th in the country to 6th.
