Sexual maturity

Maturity is not just contraception. What about not being able to communicate wants? Needs? Desires? Why exploring what you love in sex is bad? What about one-sided sex shaming where being community dick is ok, but having multiple partners?2

Black love: fact or fiction

There is this glorious construct of Black love – a Black man finding a Black woman and pair bond and raise a family. It was always something that I saw growing up around my family and the foundation of my childhood. A theme in my book, Can I Borrow Your Skin, was that as an industrious woman focused on career was does the idea of Black love fade for an older, driven woman?

Is your sex evolving over time? If not, you may be cheating yourself out of a great time

Can good sex be currency?

Even for those not in the sex industry, Good Sex is a currency and peopel are naïve to think that it is not .Sex is transactional. Why not turn that orgasm into an opportunity?

Representation matters

In the medical field, we need to foster equity of a diverse group of identities including race especially in leadership, and education. It is crucial for validation, belonging, and breaking stereotypes. For the next generations to seek medicine as a field they need visible role models

Look out for yourself - testing can be off the record

Real threat for health care is how insurance companies define pre-existing conditions now. There are many ways to protect yourself while also getting the needed information.

Why are we letting history repeat itself?

The old stereotypes about minorities in medicine still have not been dispelled. When we are not participating in the system, then how is the system going to get better care?

Grief as a Punch in the Face

There are those deaths that remove the rose colored glasses. I experienced that with my parents. I was in my 40s and I felt that I was an adult, but I learned very quickly that many of things that I thought that grief and life in general was very wrong. It was a total slap in the face. I found my entire life turned upside down, but not for the typical, I feel like an orphan reasons. I was no longer rationalizing the things shown to be family and friends. I accepted whatever place that was shown to me…I lived Maya Angelou’s quote and I believed ppl as they showed me who they were and found a way to be okay with it.
