Note sull'episodio

What are our emotional responsibilities in a family? In other words, what is my issue and what is my sibling's issue? Patterns of personalization -- where someone takes on something that isn’t theirs -- are set in childhood. It’s a type of over responsibility that manifests as a need to give order to an otherwise unexplainable situation. When it comes to sibling estrangement, personalization often is based upon incomplete information, which can lead to rumination. We become our own worst critics, and rumination can be its own cage. In fact, we can be the target of someone else’s internal battle; a sibling may project his or her own failures and shortcomings onto a sibling. Personalization is an interpersonal process that can be curbed. This episode explores strategies to reduce personalization and rumination.
