Pray Without Ceasing

Bible Readings: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28

Summary: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 compares prayer to breathing,

calling it the soul’s spiritual breath, made possible by the Holy

Spirit. The sermon points to Pentecost as the time when the Spirit

turned the early church into a community of prayer. Prayer is

described as essential to Christian life, not just an extra activity.

Paul’s words to “pray without ceasing” mean living in constant

dependence on God, showing gratitude, and staying connected

with Him, rather than praying nonstop. Even though the young

church in Thessalonica faced hardship and persecution, Paul

encourages them to stay faithful, love one another, and keep

praying as people who live in God’s light.
