The Hollow House Of Hedonism

Bible Readings: 1 Kings 10:1-9, 14-22, 27-11:4

Text: Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

Summary: What do you pursue for happiness, for joy? What

gives you the greatest pleasure? In our rich and abundant

western 1st world society the options are almost endless.

But this is not a new pursuit. As we look at Ecclesiastes 2:1-

11 we will see that Solomon gave himself to the pursuit of

pleasure in the search of happiness nearly 3000yrs ago. So

how did it turn out for him? And as you pause to think about

your own pursuits, how is it turning out for you? The pursuit

of pleasure is called Hedonism, but it is not as fulfilling as we

might be led to believe. So where will we find true

happiness and joy?
