Social Workers Talking about Breast Cancer in Young Women
In this podcast, I am speaking with three social workers from the MD Anderson Cancer Center about their experiences providing care to young women diagnosed and being treated for breast cancer. I am a faculty member at the Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden, and a breast cancer researcher. I learned so much from the 30 women I interviewed, and from the doctors, nurses, and social workers who talked to me, and I hope that listening to these podcasts will be helpful for anyone diagnosed with breast cancer.
Living With Breast Cancer as a Young Woman
In this podcast, I speak to two women who were diagnosed with breast cancer. Oretta Thomas is an active member of the South Jersey Breast Cancer Coalition, and she was my community partner on a breast cancer grant. Oretta also lost her young daughter to breast cancer, so she understands what it is like to receive such a diagnosis when you are young. The second women, S., was diagnosed in her early 30's. She was a participant in my research study and she has an impactful story to tell. I am a faculty member at the Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden. I learned so much through this research experience, interviewing 30 women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I owe them all so much for educating me and helping me understand what they have gone through.
