John 7 places us in the middle of a crowd that was stirred, curious, and even impressed by Jesus, yet walked away unchanged. As Jesus stood at the Feast of Tabernacles and called out to all who were thirsty to come to Him and drink, the people around Him did what many of us do today: they talked among themselves. They debated His identity, questioned the prophecies, and reacted with emotion, but they did not come to Him. This pattern of reacting without truly responding is one of the most subtle and dangerous traps in the life of faith.
