In February 1978, five young men from Yuba City, California vanished after attending a college basketball game in Chico. All were either intellectually disabled or had mild psychiatric conditions, and they were known to be close friends.

Their disappearance set off a months-long search across rural Northern California, culminating in the discovery of their remains in the remote Plumas National Forest months later under baffling conditions.
