When Did Everything Become Offensive?
When did everything become offensive? This week, we’re talking about the ever-growing list of things people seem to find inappropriate, offensive, or worth getting upset about. From wearing a bikini in a video to simply doing things differently, it sometimes feels like we’ve forgotten how to let people just be people. We talk about how we were raised, why we don’t tend to get offended by every little thing, and whether some people use being “offended” as a way to feel morally superior to someone else. But underneath all of that is a bigger question: Why do we take so much personally? Maybe not everything needs a reaction. Maybe not everything needs to be corrected. And maybe, just maybe, life is supposed to be a little more fun. Because sometimes the best lesson is simply: not everything is that serious. We Have An Idea...Again
KC has another idea. Honestly, this shouldn't surprise anyone. In this episode, we talk about KC's lifelong ability to come up with new ideas, new plans, and new things she thinks we absolutely should do. Charlie has spent years being the person who either gets talked into those ideas or has to step in and ask the important questions: How much work is involved? When would we actually have time to do it? And why do we apparently have 20 irons in the fire right now? But this week, something was different. Charlie was feeling a little better on the stress front, which apparently meant KC saw an opening. 😂 We talk about the constant dance between KC reeling Charlie in and Charlie reeling KC back in, why some of us are wired to chase the next idea, and how those ideas might be about more than just staying busy. Sometimes they are about wanting to experience something new, be part of something bigger than ourselves, and simply have a little more fun along the way. Maybe growing up doesn't mean we stop having ideas. Maybe it means we get better at deciding which ones are worth chasing. Because life is already serious enough. We might as well leave a little room for the next ridiculous idea. Join us as we talk about the lessons we're learning, the ideas we're trying to keep up with, and what it means to remember to actually enjoy the life we're building. Lesson Learned = Growth Earned. My Brain Wouldn't Let Me Relax
Sometimes the problem isn't that you have too much going on. Sometimes the problem is that your brain refuses to stop working on it. This week, one of us is stressed. Really stressed. Between everything happening in life, all the things that need to be figured out, and all the things she can't actually control, her brain has decided that relaxing is apparently not an option. The other one, well, she handles stress very differently. She can stress about something for a minute, figure out what she can do about it, and then put it down. So the sisters talk about why they handle stress so differently, what it looks like when worrying turns into trying to "work" your way out of a feeling, and whether we sometimes make ourselves more overwhelmed by trying so hard to make everything okay. Because sometimes there really is something you can do. And sometimes the hardest thing to do is admit that you've done what you can...and let the rest wait. If you've ever had a brain that just wouldn't shut off, this one might feel a little too familiar. ❤️ Lesson Learned = Growth Earned. What If It's Not Your Dream Job?
Some weeks, work just feels... heavy. In this episode, we're sharing a conversation that started with both of us struggling to find joy in our current job. That led us down a path of remembering other jobs we've had where the passion just wasn't there, and asking a bigger question: What do you do when you're not excited to go to work every day? We talk about the difference between waiting for your circumstances to change and taking ownership of your experience. Sometimes that means creating small moments of fun, like turning an ordinary workday into a game with a coworker. Other times, it means making a plan for what's next so you know you're moving toward something better or just taking a nap on your lunch break. If you've ever watched the clock, questioned your career, or wondered if everyone else has their dream job figured out, this conversation is for you. Because adulthood isn't about loving every season. It's about learning how to grow through the ones you don't. Are We All Just Winging It?
At some point as kids, most of us assumed adulthood came with a secret age that you just knew it all. You hit a certain birthday, someone hands you "The Adult Manual," and suddenly you know how mortgages work, how to raise kids, how to cook dinner, and what a home warranty actually covers. ...Yeah, that never happened. In this episode, we're talking about the reality that most adults are figuring it out one awkward, expensive, and occasionally hilarious mistake at a time. From buying a house and discovering all the things no one tells you, to realizing parenting doesn't require an emergency doctor's visit for every cough, to celebrating the moment you finally master three reliable meals, adulthood is really just a series of lessons disguised as life. If you've ever looked around wondering, "Does everyone else know what they're doing?" this episode is your reminder that we're all learning as we go. Because maybe confidence isn't knowing all the answers. Maybe it's trusting yourself to figure out the next one. The Empathy Gap
Why is it so hard to have empathy for some people...but effortless for others? This week on Adulthood is a Project, we're diving into The Empathy Gap. We talk about why empathy doesn't always come naturally, the difference between empathy and sympathy, and why two people can experience the exact same situation but react in completely different ways. We also unpack something that gets misunderstood all the time: when someone responds to your story with one of their own, are they trying to one-up you...or are they actually trying to connect? This episode explores how our own experiences shape the way we relate to others, and why assuming good intentions can change the way we communicate. Because adulthood isn't about agreeing with everyone...it's about learning to understand people whose lives don't look like yours. Can I Afford Adulthood?
You save for the big expenses. Nobody tells you about the dozens of little ones waiting around the corner. In this episode, we're talking about the hidden costs of adulthood, from replacing RV sewer hoses and buying car batteries to expensive friendships, classroom supplies, and all the unexpected fees life keeps throwing our way. Along the way, we realized the biggest cost isn't always money. Sometimes it's the mental load of making one adult decision after another. Join us as we laugh through the chaos, share our own stories, and ask the question we've all wondered at some point... Can I Afford Adulthood? The Problem With The Plan In Your Head
Have you ever been disappointed because something didn't go the way you pictured it...only to realize no one else even knew the plan? In this episode, we're talking about the expectations we create in our own minds and how those invisible scripts can shape everything from relationships and vacations to restaurant orders and road trips. Through plenty of laughs, we share stories about a farm-to-table dinner that didn't live up to the hype, a haircut that almost caused panic, and why one of us has learned to build extra bathroom breaks into every travel itinerary. Sometimes life isn't falling apart. It's just refusing to follow the version we already wrote in our heads. Join us as we explore why letting go of unrealistic expectations can make room for better experiences, less frustration, and a whole lot more laughter.
