Grieving Dad | Why I don't want you to ask me how I am

Hello friends, I'm so grateful that you've tuned in for the fourth episode of our 'Grieving Dad' series. It's now just over two and a half months since Dad passed and if I'm honest, the grief has only intensified since the last episode. I'll talk a little about this throughout the show. During this episode, I'll walk you through some of the questions that grieving people wish they weren't asked, with some of my own examples thrown in for good measure. Some of the tone deaf questions include: So, what are you going to do with his house? Hours after Dad passed. Sorry for your loss. Are you going to the Best and Fairest dinner next week? And my personal favourite, I know how you feel. I lost my father-in-law a few years ago... I'll also give you some pointers on what to say when someone you care about is going through a season of intense grief. We'll then continue our reading through the Book of Revelation and close the episode with a highly relevant devotion from Dr Charles Stanley. Grieving Dad | When love and grief become idolatrous

Hello friends, I read recently that "Whatever fills your prayers is your God" and to my dismay and great shame, it made me realise that in recent years, and especially in recent weeks, my 'God' has been my father. In this episode, we look at what idolatry is from a secular and a biblical point of view. We also revisit a couple of pages from a book and a single reel from Instagram that brought into sharp focus exactly how I've recently been pulling focus from my first love: our Heavenly Father. I pray that this series on grief will be a blessing to you. Grieving Dad | Will I recognise him and will he recognise me in heaven?

Hello friends, It's now seven weeks since my dear Dad - and better half of this podcast - went home to be with the Lord. In this, our third season, I thought I'd walk you through my season of grief in real time, in the hopes that it will be a blessing to you. Today’s episode will focus on the types of questions I desperately needed answers to in the hours, days and weeks following Dad’s death. We lay the table with scripture from 2 Corinthians Chapter 5, which has settled my restless spirit and provided peace that surpasses all understanding every single time I’ve returned to this blessed portion of Scripture. We then commence a new Bible reading, starting with Revelation Chapter 1. Now, I know that we were diligently working through the Book of Psalms and The Acts of the Apostles during our previous seasons, but I know that it was Dad's intention to read through the Book of Revelation and then read through the Book of Daniel last year, so in honour of his memory, I will read through both on his behalf – along with you all, our dear listeners. For the record, Dad managed to read up until Chapter 3 / 4 :) We’ then wrap up with a daily devotional from Dr Charles F Stanley – it’s an excerpt that Dad had thoughtfully photocopied and given to me about six months ago and I pray it will be as much of a blessing to you all as it is to me. UPDATED Grief, grace, guts and the Gospel | A reflection on Dad’s recent passing

UPDATED CONTENT Apologies to those of you who listened the original version of this podcast. The production issues were entirely my fault and they’ve since been rectified and a little more fresh content has been added. Thank you for your understanding and your patience. ---- Hi friends, Apologies in advance for the tears at various points throughout this episode, but I couldn't let the opportunity to shine a light on my dear dad pass me by during this first episode of the season. A couple of weeks ago, we lost our Dad and the better half of our podcast. I'm heartbroken and the grief sits like a lead balloon on my chest, but I rest much easier in the knowledge that dad is with Jesus. There's literally no better place to be. If you're currently experiencing grief or possibly even anticipatory grief, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via Instagram (@withstandpod) or via email (withstandpod@gmail.com) During Dad's last 24 hours, I was fortunate enough to play him a couple of sermons from Charles Stanley. Here are the links: The Source of Peace - Charles Stanley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1WiM3Z7hPM&t=831s (we watched this while my brother and I fed Dad his lunch) Our Peace: God's Will - Charles Stanley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E02hPeWZLTo&t=582s (I watched and Dad listened as I fed Dad his dinner, which would be his final meal on earth). God bless you, guys.

How To Fear Not When The World Is In Its Fear Much Era

Hello Friends! We're so grateful that you could join us for our final episode for Season Two. We fully intend to be back in your ears before Christmas. In our latest episode, we take a look at what happened on this day, back in the day including the Roman Catholic Church switching from Latin to English Masses from 1964 and we look at the deepening divide within the Anglican Church. We take a closer look at "Fear Porn" and why our blessed hope in Jesus Christ is the only antidote to fear. We then round out the show with a couple of reflections on rebuffing worry and resting in His hope, both of which are written beautifully by the late, great Dr Charles F Stanley. The dangers of relying solely on online Holy Bibles and Fellowship

Hello friends! Call us old fashioned, but we much prefer to read our Holy Bible in print, rather than online. After all, burying our nose in God's word and holding His truth close to our heart is a little tougher when the words strobe off a screen, rather than lift off the page, don't you think? We take a closer look at why we shouldn't rely solely on technology for His word and fellowship in His name. In this episode, we also pray for the two young Melbourne women who tragically lost their lives from methanol poisoning in Thailand and we continue our Bible reading (from the printed pages of our NKJV). We're now up to Psalm 42 and The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 19. CONTACT US: withstandpod@gmail.com Instagram - @withstandpod God bless you, guys.

How do I know if I'm hearing the Voice of God, myself or worse, Satan?

Hello fellow Withstanders! Thank you for joining me for our latest Withstand Podcast. So glad you could join us. In our latest ep, we take a closer look at what it means to hear from our Heavenly Father. How do we discern if we're hearing from Him, or we're distorting His words with our own perspective and will - or worse still, how do we discern if it's Satan who's speaking words of mistruth? We take a look at some of the latest headlines - including some more head-scratching decisions from the Vatican and we'll continue our Bible reading through the book of Psalms and the Acts of the Apostles. And for the first time on this podcast, we'll finish up with a reflection on God's Voice from the inimitable A. W. Tozer.
