Episode 27 - Patlabor 2: The Movie

This podcast started years ago! It took a whole year of episodes, but Bridget was finally able to make the rest of the girls watch an anime movie they all loved: Mamoru Oshii's Patlabor 2: The Movie. With this film, Oshii transforms Patlabor, originally a series of goofy cop shenanigans, into a cold meditation on the concept of "peace" in an era of endless proxy wars. Join Bridget, EV, Bri, and Jae as they discuss blowback, the Tokyo Sarin Gas Attacks, and neoliberal capitalism's inability to respond to problems of their own making.
