Hometown Psycho

What turns a quiet kid into a killer obsessed with eyeballs? In this dark and disturbing episode of Waywut, Darrell and Jason dive into the twisted backstory of Charles Albright, better known as the Eyeball Killer—a man who terrorized Dallas in the 1990s and left behind a string of brutal murders with one horrifying signature.

But this episode goes deeper than the headlines. We explore:

• Albright’s bizarre childhood, overbearing adoptive mother, and early signs of psychological damage
• His strange obsession with taxidermy, fake eyeballs, and dead birds with button eyes
• Forged school records, criminal fraud, and early prison time
• The psychological roots of serial killer behavior and how his upbringing shaped his crimes
• A candid breakdown of the true crime genre, including the tropes, the victim narratives, and the moral grey areas

It’s part serial killer profile, part media critique, and all Waywut: unfiltered, unsettling, and smarter than your average true crime binge.
