Reaching the Indus

This week we talk about how people entered South Asia and the banks of the Indus River. We also talked about some of the big geographic and meteorological differences and the other parts of Asia we have talked about this season. A Past and Future Junction

The humans moving into the region at this time were having to deal with the environmental changes left behind by the retreating ice sheets and glaciers of the Younger Dryas. This week we finish Anatolia and move into the Caucasus Mountains, Pontic Mountains, Mesopotamia, Arabia, and Northern Iran and the Caspian Sea cost and talking about the peoples living there. Revising Catalhoyuk

This week we finish our discussion of Catalhoyuk by talking about some of the early discussions of the site and what continued excavation of the location has found and how that should change what is thought about the site. We then talk about what makes a city and if Catalhoyuk or Gobekli Tepe and the rest of the Stone Hills sites qualify.
