Mark 15:21–47; John 19:17–42; Mark 16:1–20
Simon of Cyrene is pulled from the crowd to carry the cross, and Jesus is crucified between two thieves at a place called Golgotha. From the cross, he entrusts his mother to the care of the disciple he loved, cries out in anguish, and finally declares his work complete before breathing his last. Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus lay his body in a new tomb — and on the first day of the week, the stone is already rolled away, and Jesus is already alive.
We are in a Mark-John Harmony. Today's episode covers: Mark 15:21–47, John 19:17–42, Mark 16:1–20 (the crucifixion, the death of Jesus, both burial accounts, the empty tomb, and the resurrection appearances).
