No saint's story tonight. Just mine.
I don't have a dramatic origin story. No rock bottom, no lightning bolt, no burning bush. Just an ordinary human life, and a quiet presence that has been there as long as I can remember: a hesitation at a yellow light, the hair on the back of my neck, a hand on my shoulder pushing me forward or pulling me back. As a Christian, I have a name for that presence. The Holy Spirit.
This is a short reflection on solitude, on never really being alone, and on why I'm more curious and hopeful than afraid when I think about the end of this life. Maybe you don't need a spectacular conversion to encounter God. Maybe He has simply been sitting quietly beside you your entire life, waiting for you to notice.
Thanks for listening. Rob
