Folks, enjoy the quiet while it lasts. Because tonight gets messy. A stalled warm front to our south is feeding a storm system right at us. Snow rolls in this evening. But the twist? Warmer air sneaks in overhead and turns that snow into sleet, then freezing rain. Classic March treachery.
In the next 24 hours. Southern Vermont catches the worst of it. Snow starts around 7 P.M., mixes with sleet, then freezing rain creeps in toward dawn. Three to five inches pile up before it tapers off. A Winter Weather Advisory runs until 5 A.M. Wednesday. If you're driving south of Rutland tonight, take it slow. That glaze of ice is the stuff that puts cars in ditches.
