#21 Your Rebellion Is a Form of Obedience

Observe that feeling of falling behind. It does not come from any objective lack. It comes from a silent comparison between your life and an ideal model you have absorbed. That model was not given to you — it was pressed into you, like a coin into warm wax. You carry its shape without ever having seen the press.

The peculiar cruelty of this arrangement is that you cannot win. If you achieve the model, you only confirm its hold. If you fail, you suffer. The only way out is to see the model for what it is: a blueprint drawn by no one in particular, for no particular reason, that you nonetheless treat as law.

To see that is already to begin dismantling it. Not by force — by clarity.
