2023 ADVENT SERIES WK4

All 4 of these virtues or themes are actually fruit of the spirit! Galatians 5:22 & 23CSB ”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.“ So during Advent what heart preparation looks like is Spiritual Fruit dissection. All that means is in order to prepare our hearts for Christ’ return we analyze, identify and examine the basic but powerful spiritual attributes that we should be walking in

Advent Week 3 December 17th,2023

Depending on the translation, joy appears more than 100 times in the Bible. Romans 5:1-11TPT Joy is unending satisfaction only found in God It’s a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It is a posture of your heart Joy is a decision (prodigal son story) To better understand what is Joy you gotta learn what Joy is not Joy is not happinessHappiness is an emotion rooted in self’s pleasure Happiness comes from the outside, joy comes from within Happiness is conditional This time of the year is the perfect opportunity for you to investigate your joy! To see if it really is joy or just fig leaves. Fig leaves are whatever we create to hide the parts we don’t like about ourselves, literally & figuratively. Society has a way of affirming fig leaves, especially this time of year. Fool’s gold and/or fig leaves looks like this: “you are because you do” *Family WHAT YOU NEED TO ACCEPT IS this: “YOU ARE BECAUSE HE DID” *JOY DOESN’T COME BY THE WORK OF YOUR HANDS, IT COMES BY THE WORK OF CHRIST! The sooner we accept that the sooner we can stop our endless pursuits for fake satisfaction.

Advent 2023 Series - Week 2

The road to Complete Wholeness is full of potholes In Isaiah 9:6 God echoes the promise that He made in the garden to Adam, Eve, and the serpent! For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. *The word advent comes from the Latin term adventus meaning "arrival" or "coming," particularly the coming of something having great importance. Advent is a time of waiting, expecting & celebrating. by thanking God for Christ's first coming to Earth as a baby, His indwelling presence today through the Holy Spirit. Advent is also the story of creation all the way through Jesus, through the apostles, through The Holy Spirit working in us the church, in our families and the communities of today. Advent always starts four Sundays before Christmas. This year, in 2023, Advent starts Sunday, December 3 all the way to Dec 24th. Then on Christmas starts the 12 days of Christmas(so see Hallmark gets it wrong) Those 12 days run from 12/25 to Jan 5th and The Feast of Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th. Epiphany is a Christian holiday primarily commemorating the Magi's visit to the baby Jesus and the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Eastern traditions, which usually call the holiday Theophany, focus on Jesus' baptism, seen as the manifestation of Christ as both fully human and fully divine Advent is broken up into 4 Themes 4 Candles Hope (candle 1) Peace (candle 2) Joy (candle 3) Love (candle 4) Today is we focus on Peace The 2nd candle in the Advent Wreath is called The Bethlehem Candle Why? The second candle, the Bethlehem candle represents peace. It symbolizes the preparations being made to receive and cradle Emmaunel. Bethlehem is a story about a humble couple onan unwanted journey, at an inconvenient time, to visit a tiny insignificant town. Listen in as we unpack Joseph and Mary's perspectives on what it was like to carry with them The Prince of Peace while walking through stressful times.

Advent Series Week ONE: Dec 3,2023

The word advent comes from the Latin term adventus meaning "arrival" or "coming," particularly the coming of something having great importance. Advent the season is a time of waiting, expecting & celebrating. by thanking God for Christ's first coming to Earth as a baby, His indwelling presence today through the Holy Spirit. Most importantly Advent is also a time where Christians focus on spiritual preparation and anticipation of His final coming at the end of the time. We prepare our homes and hearts for four weeks before Christmas. Advent the story is the story of creation all the way up to Christ’s 2nd coming. It’s a good way to teach about the big story of what God has been doing since Adam and Eve all the way up & through Jesus through the apostles and how The Holy Spirit is at work in us in the church, in our families and the communities of today. We use this story to point our hearts & minds back to the bigger story that is currently still in play Advent always starts four Sundays before Christmas. This year, in 2023, Advent starts Sunday, December 3. Everyone say “Christian calendar” For us on the Christian Calendar Advent is us prepping, anticipating, expecting, & waiting on the Lord’s return. All of this is done 4 Sundays out from December 25th all the way to Dec 24th. Eastern traditions, which usually call the holiday Theophany, focus on Jesus' baptism, seen as the manifestation of Christ as both fully human and fully divine. Why do we do this??? - IT helps us addresses key issues such as What’s the real reason we look forward to Christmas? How should we truly celebrate Christ’s coming to earth in the form of a baby Are we daily allowing The Holy Spirit to influence our decision making? How spiritually prepared are we for Christ’s Return? The season of Advent begins on the Sunday which falls closest to November 30, and lasts through Christmas Eve, or December 24. Practical Ways to celebrate There’s 4 purple candles in the Advent wreath because it was 4,000 years from Adam & Eve to the birth of Jesus The 5th candle(white candle,bc He’s the spotless lamb that takes away the sins of the world) represents Jesus Decorate your house in stages symbolic of Advent building up each week up till Christmas day “The coming of Christ” Don’t be in a hurry to put your tree up but instead Continue to celebrate the arrival of Christ all the way until Epiphany Jan 6th. And many more! We will be partaking in a free app during this time to help us practically walk all of this out! Advent is broken up into 4 Themes Hope (candle 1) Joy (candle 2) Peace (candle 3) Love (candle 4) Today we start with Hope!!!

"Trigger-Happy", a Thanksgiving message!

The Holidays can be triggering! The death of a loved one and attempting to gather together at thanksgiving yet to remember certain family members are no longer here IS TRIGGERING! Being geographically separated away from family and friends causing you to celebrate alone IS TRIGGERING! Unrealistic expectations for the holiday IS TRIGGERING! Gathering around certain loved ones but you dread the political arguments, the sports debates, or someone bringing up your past and reminding you of who you were before Jesus came into your life IS TRIGGERING LACK OF FINANCES TO PULL OFF A “GOOD-THANKSGIVING BY HOLLYWOOD STANDARDS” IS TRIGGERING! The Holidays can be triggering,- and if we’re not careful those triggers can cause us to spiral to a deep depression, a state of loneliness or worse! It’s reported that around this holiday, 36% of Americans said they suffer from serious loneliness. Listen in as we look into "the playbook" to see what our Heavenly Father instructs us to do about this. Philippians 4:6-8 1Peter 5:8&9 Hebrews 12:1&2
