Episode 34; Campus Murders: Jack Davis Jr. and Survivor Bobby Gayle

Explícito
Episode 34, and we are both on a roll in this one. Bailey brings us the third installment of her 'Campus Murders' series with a mysterious death that took place on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jack Davis, Jr.'s death was shoddily investigated, and none of the original findings (mostly assumptions) stood up under the eye of a rockstar pathologist. Beth has a survivor story, with the positive outlook and good heart of Bobby Gayle, who survived a horrific hate crime in Stockton, California. But the subject of hate crimes had her on fire, and so of course there's more to the story than a happy ending for our lovable superhero. This week we are pleased to share the trailer for World's Dumbest Criminals, and we hope you will go check out this well-done, lightheartedly offbeat podcast by Tara Sariban! We also want to share the web address of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has been doing critical human rights, civil rights, and anti-hate crime work for over fifty years. Please donate if you can spare it. https://www.splcenter.org/ It's a true pleasure to have you back with us this week, as always. So now that you're here, get comfortable, put your feet up, and let's really think about how we as a crime family can make our lives, other people's lives, and the world a better place. But first--somebody, please get the cat off the table again!

Episode 33; Two Senseless Murders and Survivor Joi Partain

Explícito
This week at the BnB, we're asking ourselves: Is it just us, or is the world cruelly ridiculous? Beth is starting things off this week in Episode 33 with two senseless murders that, in the end, were all for nothing. It's also a reminder that even these bizarre stories are about real people who suffered, and those victims deserve to be treated with respect, despite the circumstances of their demise. Bailey saves the day (kind of) with survivor Joi Partain, who needed a little help and nearly died for it when her ex couldn't follow through responsibly. Joi received her second chance at life, and made something admirable of it. Thanks for being here again, our dear Crime Family. Hey, pick something nice in the wine cellar on your way to out the porch, will ya? I'll get the glasses and meet you out there in just a few. Welcome.

Episode 32; Willam Bradford Bishop and Architect Mayhem; Stanford White

Explícito
Crime Fam, we're sorry to do you dirty this week, but we both have stories without happy endings. But we hope you'll forgive us, because this set of bloopers is my favorite yet! For the first story, Bailey brings us the hideous William Bradford Bishop, who had everyone in his life, as well as the United States Government, convinced he was an overachieving, trustworthy, top-notch guy. They were all wrong, and Bailey will tell you what he did to reveal himself. If you already know anything about the second story, you also know it's also not a happy one. Not for the murder victim, not for the perpetrator, and especially not for the pawn in the middle of their childish rivalry. This is the seventh Architect Mayhem (!!) and it focuses on the 1906 murder of Stanford White, and how Evelyn Nesbit was the most innocent victim in the tug-of-war between White and millionaire Harry Thaw. But really, the bloopers were fun. Stick around. We've been waiting for you, and we're glad you've made it. Get comfy, here we go.

Episode 31; Lafayette Murdock Park Murder and Audrey Mabrey

Explícito
Hello, Crime Family, it's an unusual day at the BnB. Beth is taking us way back to her childhood in Indiana for a story that she remembers hearing in elementary school, but never knew any of the details about. This is about Ruth Helm Murray and her violent death in Murdock Park, in Lafayette. Bailey is the good guy this week, but her story is a really rough one. This segment involves the attempted murder of Audrey Mabrey, a consummate survivor and general winner in life. She'll inspire you! You'll also get a feel for what a diva Puss can be while we're trying to record; hang around for the bloopers at the end. As always, we're happy you've dropped in, so get comfortable and have a listen. Thank you for being here!

Episode 30; Sage Smith and Susan Walters

Explícito
We're hitting a milestone this week, Crime Family, and we couldn't have reached it without all of you! Thirty episodes in, we are bringing you two stories that are unforgettable. Bailey shares the story of Sage Smith, whose suspicious disappearance in Charlottesville has never been solved, and had never received the attention that might have resulted in some answers for her family. The upper story this week will knock your socks off--Susan Walters is a trauma nurse who went way beyond what she thought she was capable of to save her own life when a stranger was waiting for her in her home. But it also made her do things she never wanted to do. This week we're sharing World's True Crime, because we love Brad and Denise, and they deserve a big thank you for the sweet thing they did for us last week. So, here we are, basking in the glow of reaching Episode 30, and we thank every one of you who have supported us in getting there. Please have a seat, put your feet up, and get comfy. We've got stories to tell you. Welcome back!

Episode 29; Nicole van den Hurk and the Amazing Caulfield Kids

Explícito
You made it back to Episode 29 at the True Crime BnB, and this week is a doozy. First, Bailey takes us to the Netherlands and the decade long mystery of what happened to Nicole van den Hurk. The wheels of justice aren't very speedy! And for our positive story this week, Beth will tell you about five kids who sprang into action when no one could save their mom except for them. So grab your favorite emotional support animal, because you might need a cuddle for this one. As always, we are 100% pet friendly. At the beginning of this week's episode, we played you a trailer for Live Laugh Murder. They're friends of ours, and we highly recommend you give them a listen!

Episode 28; Sophie Ann Sergie and Betty Cobb

Explícito
It's Episode 28, and we're always so glad you're back to join us! This week Bailey is first, and you know that means she will be taking us somewhere dark and heavy. She starts us off with a story which is the second edition of her new special series, Campus Murders. Hold on tight while she tells us about the senseless way that the life of Sophie Ann Sergie was randomly stolen, as well as the light at the end of that decades-long tunnel. Beth is second with the survival story of Betty Cobb, who spent her whole life helping others and was fortunate enough to collect that good karma back on the worst day of her life. Also, you get to hear Bailey attempt to use every possible word that begins with EX. And please don't forget to check out our new friend Kayla of Dark Tales From the Road Podcast, whose trailer you hear at the beginning of the episode. It's always a good day to visit the True Crime BnB, so pick your favorite room, we'll bring up some snacks, and as always, we are 100% pet-friendly! Welcome, and thank you for being here!

Episode 27; Michael van Eck and James Porritt

Explícito
Back at the BnB for more true crime tales this week, so thank you for being here! Bailey starts things off with a story from South Africa and the horrific and senseless murder of Michael van Eck at the hands of a potential love interest. Beth tells the tale of an everyday trip on the London Underground that turned into a nightmare for James Porritt. Bonus content: Bailey's personal experience at the Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. After listening to her tale, check out the corresponding episode released by Evil Pudding Podcast on July 9. Also, please remember to check out PNW Haunts and Homicides for a spooky tour of the Pacific Northwest and all its lore. Thank you for joining us today, let's get this show on the road!

Episode 26; Penn State Murder in the Stacks and Survival of Alex Lovell

Explícito
This marks half a year's worth of episodes with number 26, Crime Family! Thank you for stopping at our little BnB, and for coming back every week to visit! This episode gets Beth out of the bad-girl seat, and Bailey is taking us to Penn State University in 1969 for a murder in the library stacks, and the senseless death of student Betsy Aardsma. Then Beth brings us Alex Lovell, who swears he only survived an attack by his girlfriend because he has always been obsessed with Kung Fu movies and Wing Chun. Today we're sharing one of our very favorite podcasts and people, Sam Randall of Creme de la Crime Podcast. You'll hear her trailer at the beginning, and we love and respect the work she does to keep the names of the missing in the ears of those who may know something. Please listen to her podcast and then subscribe! Time to grab something off the wine and Ribena bar, settle into a seat, and let's get started.

Episode 25; Liz Barraza and Nathalie Birli

Explícito
How are we already at Episode 25?? Well, regardless, we're tickled that you've joined us again! Today Bailey is telling you the maddening story of Liz Barraza, who was killed in her own driveway, in view of the neighbors' ring cameras, and yet two years later there are still no leads in her murder. Then Beth takes us to Austria for the abduction of the world-class athlete Nathalie Birli, and how she kept her wits and saved herself from the blind rage of a broken man. Listen for the trailer of the wonderful Andrew and Rachael of Picture the Scene Podcast, and then go listen to them and subscribe! It's hot, everyone's cranky, and Bailey yells at poor mom in the bloopers. Thank you for coming to cool off in the parlor of the BnB, Crime Family. We're glad you're here, and it's time for some stories about the bad and good in the world. Can we get you something cold to drink?
