As we were about to record an interview with Federal Independent MP, Dr Helen Haines, to talk about her private members' bill to form an Australian Federal Integrity Commission (AFIC)––colloquially known as Federal ICAC, or Independent Commission Against Corruption––we were interrupted by the Federal Attorney General's press conference, in which the Morrison Government announced its own, belated version of a Federal watchdog. We postponed the interview with Dr Haines until later in the week, after we have all had a chance to get our head around what the Government is proposing. In this brief episode, we discuss the possible ramifications of the Government's ambush announcement.
