The Diary of Anne Frank was first published on June 25, 1947, and has since become one of the most important personal accounts of the Holocaust. Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who went into hiding with her family in Amsterdam during World War II to escape Nazi persecution. While living in a secret annex for more than two years, she recorded her thoughts, experiences, hopes, and fears in a diary she had received for her thirteenth birthday. After the family was discovered and arrested, Anne died in a concentration camp, but her father survived and later published her writings. Her diary has been translated into dozens of languages and continues to inspire readers around the world with its messages of hope, courage, and resilience during one of history's darkest periods.
