The SHE Word - S4/EP9 - Women and Grief

Grief affects almost every single person on the planet in one way or another. And yet, here in the west we rarely discuss the pain and loss that is part and parcel of grief. The most common causes of grief are death, divorce, loss of job, health complications, but the a death of a pet or the loss of a home are also major events that people grieve. Whilst we know grief to cause sadness, and perhaps depression, experts associate 6 stages to the grief process which are interchangeable and far from linear. Grief also has very tangible physical manifestations - and in some instances - very serious. Host Trudy Kerr is joined by three honest, open and outstanding women for this episode. Alison Kelly has spoken out publicly relating to the loss of her new born son Jack, and her battle with breast cancer - which she identifies as the result of her profound grief and loss, Stef Deguara, is a familar face in theatre circles, larger than life and a beautiful lady who is currently dealing with living grief as her beloved mother slips away from her over a long illness and Anna Borg Bartolo is a Counselling Psychologist, Gestalt Psychotherapistwith a special interest in grief and assisting those in the grieving process. The show addresses a wide variety of aspects concerning grief and loss, as well as looking at the expectations often associated with the healing process, and the ways to support - and be supported during the time of grieving. Watch the show, take comfort and be seen.
