The Cris David Show por Cris David
Notas del episodio
June marks the 53rd anniversary of Pride month. Here at The Cris David Show we’re celebrating by highlighting important figures in the LGBTQ+ community.
The 1990 documentary, Paris Is Burning, exposed the world to the Black Queer subculture known as ballroom. Though it premiered over 30 years ago, it still remains a cult classic and a very important part of the Black cultural experience. Freddie Penda’vis, of the legendary House of Penda’vis, was at the forefront of that experience and one of the stars of the popular documentary.
Freddie’s back on The Cris David Show to share with us even more on his life, as well as the importance of Pride Month for the Black LGBTQ+ community and his thoughts on Google Arts and Culture’s Ballroom in Focus project.
